I really like how Shadow Fall incorporated and utilized both the LED light bar as well as the touchpad. The weapons in the game have that heavy feel as well as feel/look realistic to them. The facial expressions are spot on and do not appear dull or fake, once again, backing up idea of being very smooth and natural. Guerilla Games spares no amount of detail on the environment and the world created in Shadow Fall, from the smallest nook and cranny of a dark alley to the somewhat almost overwhelming forest and wooded areas. From scaling treacherous cliffs to vaulting up and over obstacles, the graphics and the movements in game seem very natural and smooth. The graphics are smooth and for a lack of a better word, very fluid. Hands down, the graphics in Killzone: Shadow Fall look sick and are some of the best out there at the moment. Just a friendly hint, be sure to keep watching after the credits roll *wink wink* Now I won’t say much about the ending to not have any spoilers, but there is truly a moment in which you will verbally exclaim (I know I did) “Dude, What the fu-?!” Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the ending of the game and I felt that the end did justice to Shadow Fall, with the ending offering the possibility for future installments in the Killzone universe. Keep in mind I went through the game on the normal setting, and there were still some parts that were pretty difficult and took sometime, so by varying the difficulty and kicking it up a notch, you can definitely stretch it to 15-20 hours easily. At a little over 12 hours for me, you could easily burn through KZSF in a weekend.

The voiceovers are fitting and well done. These audio logs play through the mono speaker on the controller, which I thought was a neat and different addition. Throughout the game you will find audio logs, further telling the story of what is going on in the Shadow Fall universe. Yeah you use it when you need to, but if those moments are spaced out, you sometimes forget that you even have it. One thing I would have liked to see more in KZSF was more use of the OWL drone. Story-wise, Killzone: Shadow Fall is your somewhat generic, Sci-Fi FPS it is not something entirely new and original, but it is still interesting and really expands and builds upon the already expansive story of the Helghans. Insert terrorist organization the Black Hand, and you now have the individuals behind the trigger.

As the tension between the Vektans and the Helghans reach a boiling point, a series of explosions rip through Vekta City and Vektans look for the culprit(s). In Shadow Fall, you are Lucas Kellan, Shadow Marshall, essentially a hybrid between an elite super soldier and a highly trained spy, who is wrought by the growing tension and the onset of war between the Vektans and the Helghans. Needless to say, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Guerilla Games are setting the bar pretty damn high from right outta the gate. At this point, I can only dream and entertain the thought of what the games in 2-3 years will look like, but from what I have seen so far, I am pumped. Hell, Ubisoft created Snowdrop, a new engine for the up and coming game The Division, and Kojima and crew brought about Fox Engine for the new Metal Gear Solid V (Read Adam Adair’s review of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeros for more game detail).

KILLZONE SHADOW FALL GAME PLAY PS4

With Killzone: Shadow Fall, a PS4 exclusive launch title, we are seeing the first games operate on this new system and I can only imagine what new engine companies will create to really push the limits of this new console. Guerilla Games really came through and showed the world the games they are capable of making, but more importantly, the capabilities of the recently released PlayStation 4.
